The primary operation of our education center is Sacred Heart of Jesus Nursery and Primary School in the village of Nyamuha. We currently serve more than 170 at-risk students, and employ; five full-time teachers, two non-teaching staff . Next to the school, we have a mission house where Bugumiro teachers and missionaries live in community and welcome visitors in the spirit of hospitality. Along with serving the students during the school day, we engage the entire family of the enrolled students through home visits, counseling, prayer ministry and economical empowerment.
“He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the foreigner residing among you, giving them food and clothing.” – Deuteronomy 10:18
Through our educational sponsorships of primary, secondary, and tertiary institute students, we minister to vulnerable children and youth, especially orphans and those who have difficulty in accessing education.
This ministry provides an opportunity to create a unique and meaningful relationship between child and benefactor while empowering the young people of Uganda.
2018 World Bank reports indicate that Uganda is having the world’s second youngest population with more than 50% being under the age of 18. While the country has an extremely rapid population growth, nearly 8.4 million Ugandans live below the poverty line. One of the causes of poverty is unemployment among the youth. We seek to empower the youth spiritually, socially, and economically outside formal education settings. For the enrichment of the young people of the village, we are currently heading a goat-breeding project, holding a spiritual formation series, building a soccer field, and preparing for holiday retreats.
"I am the Lord's servant," Mary answered. "May it be done to me according to your word." – Luke 1:38
Many of the most dynamic problems facing the community we serve begin in the home. Bugumiro Foundation seeks to break generational curses and provide assistance in the healing process through door to door prayer ministry, mentorship, marriage counseling, financial literacy and family-oriented prayer events.
“The Lord heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds” – Psalms 147:3
When we experience the love of Christ, there is a healing that takes place in our souls. In our ministry, emphasis is put on experiencing God’s love so that members of the community can receive our freedom in mind, body and soul.
But Jesus said, “Let the Children come to me, and do not prevent them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” – Matthew 19:14
Children have a special place in Jesus’ heart and they find home there. We desire that every child be in a loving home setting where there is a father and mother figure. A facility is under construction to serve as a transition home or home for these children. Once completed, we will strive to place every abandoned child we encounter in a family setting.
